The Mandelring Quartet was awarded the 2023 Art Prize of the Ike and Berthold Roland Foundation. The presentation took place on April 24, 2023, during a concert of the Classical Music Series in Neustadt. The laudatory speech was held by former Ministerial Director Walter Schumacher.

On March, 15 and 16, 2023 the Mandelring Quartet will play again – for the fourth time – two concerts on the Stradivarius instruments of the Royal Collection in the “Salón de Columnas” of the Royal Palace in Madrid.

The Mandelring Quartet is happy to inform that the tour to Spain that was cancelled last autumn will now take place March, 13-18, 2022. In addition to concerts in Malaga and Barcelona two concerts will take place at the Royal Palace in Madrid. On this occasion the Mandelring Quartet’s members will again play on the Stradivarius instruments of the Royal Collection.

New CD Debussy, Rivier

„I find it hard to imagine better performances than the Mandelring Quartet provide here, as they sound so sympathetic and committed to these works.” writes MusicWeb International’s reviewer about the Mandelring Quartet’s second CD with French repertoire. It combines the two string quartets by Jean Rivier – the first one a world premiere recording – with Claude Debussy’s wonderful and only work for string quartet.

The Mandelring Quartet’s new CD has just been released. It brings together two works composed at about the same time: Maurice Ravel’s string quartet, a stroke of genius from the 27-year-old, and the subtle and colourful quartet op. 36 by Fernand de La Tombelle – an absolute revelation! Another CD is in the pipeline for November 2021, again featuring works from the French repertoire: the string quartets by Claude Debussy and Jean Rivier.

2020_10 Stummes Konzert

The  Mandelring Quartet’s concert with Dmitri Shostakovich’s string quartets Nos. 1, 8 and 15 at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele on June 26, 2020 will be livestreamed and broadcast in the ARD radio festival.
The livestream can be found on the website of the Festspiele www.schlossfestspiele.de from Friday, June 26, 20:00, as well as on the YouTube channel and the Facebook page of the Festspiele.
